Westchester is home to numerous Fortune 500 companies and other major employers, and I want them to stay here. I will not vote to raise their taxes simply because some believe they should pay more. These companies already contribute significantly — they pay substantial taxes, employ thousands of people, and provide competitive benefits. Many of their employees live in Westchester, where they pay property and school taxes and support our small businesses every day.
Our small businesses — often family-owned — are the backbone of our communities. We must help them thrive and fill the too many empty storefronts across our towns. I will fight for tax reductions and caps on increases, create door-opening incentives for new businesses, and explore reasonable rent caps that also protect building owners who face rising costs. I will pursue funding opportunities and grants to help small businesses grow.
I will also work to reduce burdensome regulations that make it difficult for owners to improve, renovate, or expand their businesses. Safe, vibrant commercial areas attract customers — that means better sidewalks, lighting, and police presence. I also support smart development, such as mixed-use buildings with storefronts on the ground floor and apartments above, when appropriate and approved by local governments — never as a mandate.
I will actively engage with our business community by attending Rotary meetings and other local business groups to listen, collaborate, and advocate for their success.
